Bolingbrook Firefighters Union Donate Money to First Party Member, Bill Mayer's Campaign

Can the donations to Mayer's campaign protect the BBFU from any future layoffs?

The Police and Public Works union have remained neutral, and don't actively campaign for any local candidates.  What's up with the firefighters union?

Why can't they remain neutral in their dealings with Bolingbrook politicians?

When new rounds of budget cuts arrive, will the Village cut more police and public works employees and keep firefighters because they are the ones funding The First Party's campaigns?

  1. Police and public works didn't endorse any of the BB first opponents. That isn't altruistic, it simply shows that they didn't find them to be electable.

The firefighters should not remain neutral, they'd be wrong if they did. They should get behind whomever they believe will do the best job. Last time that police and fire employees were laid off it was the same number of cuts even though the firefighters had in the past supported the bb first party.

    There is no story here.

Not sure what you are smoking but your thinking is skewed.

Bolingbrook police officers and firefighters should stay out of local politics, period. Why? Because they are sworn to serve ALL of the residents, who happen to be paying their salary.

If the officers or firefighters happen to be residents of BB, they are entitled to endorse a candidate privately. Anything more than that is pandering for some kind of financial support. For example, the Bolingbrook Firefighters Union donating money to BB First Pty, and DT Supv, Bill Mayer's campaign in exchange for job security, and financial support for some bogus charities.

So stop sucking, get off the tit and just do your job.

  3. LOL you do realize that their salary isn't found under their pillow because the taxpayer fairy put it there right? Cops and firemen work hard for their pay. They owe you that and nothing more. Supporting a political candidate has nothing to do with responding to your home or anyone else's in an emergency. That is how they serve all residents. They have every right to support whomever they want. Go ask your supreme court if you don't believe me.

Who cares if you don't like it? Go support whomever you want. They will do the same.
