Looks as if DuPage Township Supervisor, Bill Meyer, and the township board have decided to ignore the growing concerns of taxpayers.
We were shocked to learn they were still dumping tens of thousands (tax dollars) into their favorite charities and non-profits.
Check out two of the "well connected" organizations that received money (aka our tax dollars) from DuPage Township within the past 6 months.

It's no surprise, Pat Claar's at the township begging for big bucks to fund her daughters so called program for high risked teens. No telling where she will spend the $20,000. That's a lot of money.
ReplyDeleteBut I am surprised at the firefighters union, and disappointed. Why are they donating to democrats? Claar and his people are socialist posing as republicans, McAsey and Wilhelmi are both democrats. WTF
re. the firefighters. I smell quid pro quo, indeed. What a kiss ass letter.
ReplyDeleteHey Matt, did you get a promotion as well?
Why can't you people stick to fighting fires, and stay out of politics? It looks bad, dude.
Good for MAtt and the firefighters for recognizing good government enev in spite of negative circumstances for them. I guess they also could have chased the shiny new red wagon that is Rhonda and Bonnie. They were smart enough to know that what is best for Bolingbrook is not those two. The PD didn't endorse Rhonda and Bonnie either. Anyone wonder why? Even the police knew that was a loser.
ReplyDeleteLOL some think........this is what "bloggers" posing as journalists do when they don't want to say what is on their minds. Rhonda you dissappoint me, I thought you had courage enough to stand on your own and not use the generic...."some say...." It is you that say these things and it is because even you can see that no one endorsed you in spite of all of the negative drivel that you "blog" about.
ReplyDeleteMatt and the firefighters union need to focus on fighting fires, instead of mixing with politicians.
ReplyDeleteThis is wrong.
To Matt Olson, and the BB Firefighters Union:
ReplyDeleteYou are somewhat respected in the community. Don't be foolish enough to think you are above public scrutiny. Your reputation's at risk.
There's a growing number of people in the community that strongly resent Mayor Claar, and The First Party's reckless spending. Wake up! We are taxpayers too. Our numbers are growing and we are not going anywhere.
I agree with the earlier comment, "Bolingbrook firefighters should focus on fighting fires, not politics."
You will never see the police union publicly endorsing local candidates. They may provide support to candidates "off the record", but never in writing.
Can't say the same about the Bolingbrook firefighters.
I've lived in Bolingbrook over 25 years and never knew the local firefighters donated money to political candidates.
What's with all the animosity? Everytime an article is published exposing corrupt government practices, the clowns come out, guns a blazin, attempting to shoot down the messanger.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Pat Claar should give back the $20k, and Matt Olson should return the $1,000. Return that money back to the taxpayers where it belongs.
Rhonda can be the most negative, wanna be journalist, bitch in the world (as some of you claim). But one problem, she's only the messanger. She's not the one pocketing all this cash, they are.
It's true, I hear the democrat politicians meet with BB FFs union for money every election. It's a guaranteed $1500 plus. Check out the campaign contr website.
ReplyDeleteAlso, during this past April election, Claar and his people were very scared about losing votes after the local backlash against the public worker layoffs. So in order to do some damage control, the Village decided to hire back the 2 firefighters, and work with the union behind the scenes to clean up the mess.
The firefighters' union president published a glowing campaign letter, endorsing the First Party. The letter was included with the campaign literature for The First Party, and sent to some 21k homes.
Did you notice, there were no such endorsements from the public works union or the police union?
The firefighters union was standing ALL ALONE in their endorsement. Why?
The article is spot on, it's quid pro quo.
To Reality,
ReplyDeleteCool it with the name calling. You are way too angry for some reason. This is an important topic that deserves some attention. The name calling doesn't help.
Grow up.
Are you guys opposed to unions having a political voice or just against them supporting candidates in opposition to yours?
ReplyDeleteagainst them using union members dues to contribute to the politician of their choice.
ReplyDeleteie: do you really think that the teachers union members wanted their money to go to friends of valley view or any other candidate?
Anonymous 8:02pm:
ReplyDeleteWe are specifically discussing the BB firefighters union. Lets stay focused.
It appears BBFF union has a dual role in Bolingbrook. Negotiating contracts and campaigning for Claar & The First Party.
Frankly, the firefighters should take a cue from the police and public works union. Make no formal public endorsements.
Leave the campaign donations, and endorsements to individual members, in private. Once you go public, and make it official, the union is actively campaigning.
Be smart. Stay neutral.
AND GIVE BACK THE $1,000 DONATION FROM DUPAGE TOWNSHIP.
There is a lot of questionable activity here....Firefighters should stay neutral and do firemen's work..don't kiss ass because of layoffs, "fight fire with fire" - let the public know what's really happening. By the way why are firefighters and police always asking for donations? Don't they have enough pay and good benefits?
ReplyDeleteLegal Eagle is on point. The firefighters should make campaign donations and/or endorsements as individuals. It's more than obvious that the Dupage Township "donation" to the firefighter scholarship fund was a shell game meant to benefit Bill Mayer's campaign fund. The $1,000 should be returned to taxpayers.
ReplyDeleteThe increasing yearly "donations" to H2O raise some questions.
What percentage of H2O's revenues are from Dupage Township?
What percentage of H20's revenues/in-kind support is from the Village of Bolingbrook?
Why is H20 requesting these increased donations? Has their base of support eroded?
Should Dupage Township and Bolingbrook taxpayers be forced to support an organization which duplicates services offered by schools, the park district and faith based organizations like churches?
H20's homepage boasts about how their Christmas in July golf outing and dinner gala event was a huge success. http://www.hearthavenoutreach.org/index.php?page_id=1
This gala was held at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. Did H20 receive in-kind donation of the facility for their event?
There are probably many worthy local charities that could have used $20k. Can they also request a $20k “donation” from Dupage Township with no questions asked?
The firefighters just like the teachers have every right to participate in the political process. They are protected by the constitution which allows them free speech. If they choose to donate their union dues to a particular polital party or candidate that's fine. They do not have to nor should they donate as indivisuals any more than the chamber of commerce donates as individuals.
